A federation advocating for an ancestral practice with a modern purpose
At the heart of hunting culture in Europe, the European Bowhunting Federation (EBF) stands out as an essential force promoting a practice as ancient as humanity itself: bowhunting. Founded in Helsinki in 2003, the EBF brings together more than 28 national organizations around a common goal: to defend, promote, and develop bowhunting as a legitimate, ethical, and sustainable wildlife management method across Europe. Today, the elected president is Anders Gejer from Sweden, while the current secretary, Luc Krols, comes from Belgium. The Board reflects the organization's pan-European scope, with members such as Juha Kylmä (Finland) and Robert Estlamour (France). Financial supervision is handled by Ari Kontiainen and Ernst Blajs. Each national member organization holds a vice-president position, ensuring balanced representation across the entire continent. This decentralized yet coordinated structure fosters an effective network for exchanging and spreading best practices, making the EBF a truly unified force.
