Today, the French bowhunting community loses one of its passionate figures. Thierry Manchon was one of them. Thierry left us far too early, at the age of 61, following a more than two-year battle with illness.
Thierry, secretary of the Tarn Departmental Association of Bowhunters (ACAT) and one of its pillars, contributed to the development of bowhunting in his department and nationwide through his pedagogy, his love for sharing knowledge, and his various writings. On a broader scale, he was particularly well-known in our small community for writing and publishing two books with Éditions du Plateau: La chasse libre à l’arc sans chien and L’aventure Orion, territoire d’archers, published in 2014 and 2016 respectively.
He loved sharing our adventures, techniques, and hunting reflections by giving free rein to his pen. For many years, Thierry contributed to the development of CHARC through his quarterly column Trait libre, which you have almost certainly read.
