The Power of the Image

The image as a representation of the real world has not always been what it is today, with such a level of perfection—that of a successful photograph of what surrounds us.

Through illustrations in drawing, sculpture, and painting, the image was long a form of magic that nourished the first hunter-gatherers, stimulating their expeditions toward their great hunts and great adventures under the protection of their deities. Today, can we say of those who create images that they are still transmitters of symbols, just as the great ancients were? Guides to a sacred space? What meaning can the image still hold today?
