Paper Testing: Between Myth and Reality
Paper Testing: Between Myth and Reality

The best way to easily check your arrows' flight quality is to perform the paper tear test yourself.

The one and only goal of optimizing a compound bow is to achieve the best possible arrow flight. This ensures accurate and consistent shots under all circumstances, and guarantees an identical point of impact regardless of the tip you use. Your field points and several different models of broadheads must hit exactly the same point of impact at all distances. If they do not, your equipment is not working properly, and tuning was either not done or done poorly.

Do it yourself!

It is imperative that you conduct these tests yourself. Regardless of the brand or quality of your bow, arrows, and accessories—or even the reputation of the person who supposedly tuned it—trust no one but yourself. Your equipment must work perfectly in your hands, even under the most extreme circumstances and especially with broadheads, so you can handle the most unexpected situations that can arise when bowhunting.
